Scientists Grow “Mini-Me” Testicles in the Lab, and It’s a Big Deal

In a breakthrough that sounds like it’s straight out of a sci-fi comedy, researchers at Bar-Ilan University have successfully nurtured the first-ever lab-grown artificial testicles. Forget test tubes; welcome to the age of the testicle-tube.
The scientists created these tiny biological wonders, called “testis organoids,” using real mouse testicular cells. After carefully culturing them, the mini-organs began to organize themselves and even showed signs of reaching a stage just before sperm production.
So, why grow a pair in a petri dish? It’s not for creating a mouse-dating profile. This pioneering work is a game-changer for understanding and treating male infertility. These lab-grown models provide an ethical and effective way to study how the male reproductive system develops and functions, potentially leading to new treatments for millions.
The research also opens doors for understanding the effects of pharmaceuticals on male fertility and could one day offer solutions for children undergoing cancer treatment, potentially preserving their future ability to have children.
Lead researcher Dr. Nitzan Gonen summed it up: “This is a case where thinking small could lead to some very big outcomes for human health.” It seems the future of fertility research is looking up.

Unwanted Exhibit: Dublin Shopping Centre’s Unlikely ‘One-Man ShowUnwanted Exhibit: Dublin Shopping Centre’s Unlikely ‘One-Man Show

In a bizarre incident that left shoppers more confused than terrified, a man turned a Dublin shopping centre into his own very inappropriate theatre. The performance? A solo act that nobody asked for, and certainly nobody enjoyed.
The star of this strange show, a man from Co. Donegal, decided to take a trip to Dublin with a plan more peculiar than most. Instead of visiting the usual tourist spots, he set up his own “exhibit” at a busy shopping centre. His audience? Unsuspecting families and children who were just trying to buy groceries.
Witnesses described the scene as more awkward than alarming. The man’s “performance” was thankfully interrupted by security personnel, who swiftly moved from guarding the shops to guarding the public’s sense of decorum. Gardaí were called to the scene, bringing the unexpected matinee to an abrupt close.
In a courtroom follow-up, the man pleaded guilty to engaging in offensive conduct. The judge, likely struggling to find the right words, described the act as having a “sexual element,” which might be the understatement of the day. The man’s excuse? He claimed he wasn’t targeting children, but rather was overcome by an “urge” while he happened to be near them—a defense about as convincing as his public performance skills.
The case has been adjourned for a probation report, leaving everyone to wonder what the next chapter holds for Dublin’s most unwelcome entertainer.

Thousands of Smuggled Donkey Penises Seized in Nigeria Amid Surging Demand and Declining PopulationThousands of Smuggled Donkey Penises Seized in Nigeria Amid Surging Demand and Declining Population

Nigerian officials made a startling discovery in the north-central city of Kontagora last week – thousands of dried donkey penises being smuggled out of the country. The donkey parts were found hidden in a truck headed to Hong Kong, where they are highly valued for use in traditional Chinese medicine.

This massive seizure sheds light on a booming and sinister trade that has wreaked havoc on Nigeria’s donkey population. As demand for donkey skins and body parts has skyrocketed in China in recent years, Nigerian donkeys have been slaughtered by the millions to feed this illicit industry.

Conservationists warn that unchecked, this rapidly growing trade could spell extinction for Nigerian donkeys. Already, the country’s donkey population has plunged from around 3 million in 2016 to just 800,000 today as smugglers try to cash in.

In an effort to halt this alarming decline, Nigeria banned the export and slaughter of donkeys in 2016. However, international criminal networks have continued the brutal trade by smuggling donkey parts out of the country to meet surging demand in China.

The recent seizure of over 3,000 donkey penises was a major bust by Nigerian authorities trying to crack down on this cruel and illegal trade. Officials warned that smugglers caught with donkey parts will face arrest and prosecution as the government continues its fight to protect the nation’s donkeys.

For now, the confiscated donkey penises are set to be destroyed, preventing them from reaching buyers in Hong Kong. But the bigger challenge remains ending the shadowy transnational networks that drive the intense hunting of Nigerian donkeys and the horrors of the illicit donkey skin trade.
