In a deeply unusual and disturbing breach of protocol, a California police officer has been arrested and suspended from his duties after allegedly committing a lewd act inside a resident’s home while responding to a call.
The incident unfolded on the evening of May 11th in a quiet neighborhood. The Lodi Police Department had dispatched officers to a residence regarding a domestic disturbance. According to official statements, the situation was initially resolved, and the individuals involved were escorted from the home to speak with officers outside.
However, one officer, identified as 35-year-old Akram Abdel-Latif from the Lathrop Police Department, who was assisting at the scene, allegedly remained inside the vacant house. Authorities state that a San Joaquin County Sheriff’s sergeant, having suspicions about Abdel-Latif’s prolonged absence, entered the home to check on him. The sergeant reportedly discovered the officer in a compromising situation, allegedly engaged in masturbation.
Lodi Police Chief Sierra Brucia expressed shock and condemnation, stating the officer’s alleged actions are “not consistent with our values or the oath that we take.” Abdel-Latif was immediately placed on administrative leave by the Lathrop Police Department and has been charged with misdemeanor trespassing and committing a lewd act in a public place.
The investigation is ongoing, with officials emphasizing that the officer’s conduct represents an extreme violation of public trust. The residents of the home were reportedly notified of the incident, adding a layer of distress to an already troubling situation.
